History of High Melton
The High Melton site was originally owned by the Fountayne and
Montague family in the 18th Century based around Melton Hall (now Old Hall).
However, the site has a history dating back to Lord Swein, the first recorded
owner of Melton Manner (1042 AD) and the last Saxon Lord of Sprotbrough.
